Northend United U14s 3  Chimney Corner U14s 0                              Saturday 24th March 2012

This was a much improved performance from Northend today against a determined Corner side. Northend started well and dominated the first half in possession however as been their downfall all season they just cannot convert their opportunities into goals. The Northend defence were well on top of a spirited Corner attack with Morgan in the Northend goal having to make only one good save in the first half. With Northend's midfield well on top with Adrian Dubyna covering every blade of grass on the pitch and good passing by Ciaran Neeson and Conor Bannon Northend should have ended the first half well in front. However they had to settle for a one goal lead courtesy of a fine goal by Conor Bannon who received the ball some twenty five yards out and played a great pass and go with Leo Morgan to beat three defenders to calmly pass the ball into the Corner goal. Half time score 1-0 to Northend

The second half again was played in the corner half and David Kilgore who replaced his brother scored a very good goal to increase Northend's lead to two nil. Northend kept the pressure on Corner even with three more subs being made with each player coming on slotting well into the new formation being played. From a strong surge in midfield by Yanusz Woitowicz who forced the Corner defence into a muddle allowing him to power his way past two defenders and the keeper to score Northend's third goal of the game, leaving the final score 3-0. As a plus for the Team, it was good to see Conor Kelly back in the panel today after a long lay-off.

Northend United U14s 1  Waveney U14s 8                                             Saturday 17th March 2012

Northend played local side Waveney Youth at Smithfield and where on the receiving end of a football lesson. Northend missing three regulars where no match for a rampant Waveney side that played a great game of football. Even if Northend had been at full strength it would not have changed the outcome of this one side game. As good as Waveney were Northend were poor in many areas of the game. In a game played in a good sprit Waveney after an initial flurry from Northend at the start of the match were in control through the match. Only stout defending by Northend's Captain Michael Carberry and Emmet McAllister at the centre of the defence kept the score line down at half time. Yes Northend contributed to their downfall by a very poor performance, however Waveney were without doubt the better side on the day. As the game moved towards full time Waveney took advantage of Northend being reduced to ten men through injury to increase their lead.

Man of the Match: Leo Morgan

Northend United U14s 1  Loughside U14s 3                                            Saturday 10th March 2012

Northend started well moving the ball forward at every opportunity, good work by Adrian Dubyna and Conor Bannon in midfield gave Northend a solid platform to attack from. Northend' back four held Loughside's attacks well for the first twenty minutes, however it was more of poor team work and defending rather than pressure from Loughside that was to be Northend's downfall today.
Northend did start the better of the two teams and how they only scored one goal in the first half from the numerous chances they had only the players themselves can answer .A good goal by Harry Kilgore should have been the signal to convert their many chances, however poor marking on the left side of midfield and no commitment from defenders to close down the Loughside forward resulted in a fine shot giving Morgan in the Northend goal no chance. Half time score 1-1

The second half saw a very poor performance from Northend, the quality of the passing, team work, movement of the ball was not good enough. Two many players today just did not start the second half, and while Loughside are a neat and tidy side with quality, this was a game that Northend as a team should not have lost. Loughside deserved to win as they worked all over the pitch and played a simple game of pass and move football, with players working and supporting each other.

Man of the Match: Conor Bannon

Panel: J Morgan, C Neeson, M Carberry (c), J Dawson, Y Woitowicz, K Yaworski, D Kilgore, C Bannon, H Kilgore, L Morgan, A Dubyna, E McAllister, R Ward, T Ferguson, P Nowak

Chimney Corner U14s 1  Northend United U14s 3                             Saturday 3rd March 2012

Northend started this game well, playing the ball with pace and good movement, causing the Corner defence lots of problems from the off. The midfield of Dubyna and Ferguson playing in the centre gave the defence good support which allowed the two full backs to push forward at every opportunity. Leo Morgan led the line very well and gave a good display in holding the ball up and bringing his two wide men into the game. Northend were well in command in the first half, and if they had taken their chances a convincing score line at half time would have reflected their possession and play. That said, Corner did try hard to make an impression however the Northend back four dealt comfortably with their efforts.  From good play starting in their own half, Conor Bannon played Ciaran Neeson through on the right, he in turn played a neat pass into Leo Morgan who from twenty five yards out placed the ball high into the top left corner of the goal giving Chimney Corner's keeper no chance. This should have given Northend the initiative to go on and make use of their possession. However missed chances and determined tackling by the Corner team who were putting as many players as possible behind the ball kept the score to one nil at half time.

Krystian Yaworski replaced Bannon for Northend at the start of the second half again Northend started well and soon began to control the game. Try as they might Northend just could not get that second goal. Chimney Corner began to find more time on the ball due to Northend forgetting to do in the second half what they did so well in the first ,that is pass and move and keep the shape all over the pitch. Northend's play became loose and some poor decisions were made on and of the ball. That said the defence played well and James Morgan in the Northend goal had little to do. From a through ball played over the top of the Corner defence Krystian Yaworski outpaced the defenders and was about to shoot only to be brought down inside the penalty box. Harry Kilgore stepped up to fire the ball high into the corner to extend Northend's lead to two nil. This should have settled Northend however they just could not find their rhythm of the first half and did not play at all well. Again from another through ball Yaworski outpaced the home defence to score with a low shot into the corner of the net.  Chimney Corner scored a consolation goal with only a minute to go and well done to them as they never stopped working throughout the game.

Men of the Match: Ronan Ward, Krystian Yaworski

Panel: J Morgan, M Carberry Capt., K Yaworski, R Ward, C Neeson, J Dawson, Y Woitowicz, C Bannon, L Morgan, A Dubyna, T Ferguson, D Kilgore, P Nowak, H Kilgore
